Eelsa's Escape

This was made for Mini Jam #145. The theme was "Frozen" and the limitation was "Inconvenient Superpower."

With the 72-hour limit, I knew I needed to keep it simple. For the limitation, I figured the most inconvenient types of Superpowers would be ones that would cause your own demise. With the theme being "Frozen," I thought I'd stick with the obvious and have ice be the Superpower. In the end, I landed on a Flappy Bird-style game for simplicity, with the added twist of the player (a fish) shooting ice darts and creating extended obstacles for them to dodge.

It was fun throwing together a quick project, but there are a few areas I'd probably take this game if I were to spend more time on it. I wanted to have the ice darts be random, and I had set up the game to be able to extend that behavior. I wanted to tweak the gravity and jump/dive strengths more to get it just right. It feels a little floaty, even for aiming to have an "underwater" feel for it. I think there's a lot in the post effects I could accomplish that would elevate it considerably. I'd also want to actually make the fish an eel, and create a shader for the rock obstacles.
